Hybrid Group Management

Automatically and Dynamically Keep Groups Accurate

Group membership updates can be triggered by events like user provisioning or user deprovisioning or executed on a schedule. This eliminates manual time-consuming and error-prone processes that put security, efficiency, and compliance efforts in doubt. As users join, change roles, or depart, groups are automatically and dynamically updated. When a critical membership change is overlooked or made in error, the results can be security breaches, compliance fines, and loss of IT credibility.

Granular Rules Eliminate Errors and Scripting

Easy-to-create, granular membership rules allow your organization’s data to be used to include or exclude members of a particular group. Inclusion Rules define the list of users that must be in the group while Exclusion Rules define the list of users who should never be in the group. Granular membership rules allow the administrator to easily and accurately define a group’s membership. When rules are enforced they automatically keep the group accurate so that only authorized people are given access to the correct resources.

Hybrid Group Management for All On-Premises, Hybrid, and Cloud Groups

Accurate group memberships enforcement is critical for maintaining security and for sustaining legal or regulatory compliance goals. Built-in group membership queries can be added to group membership rules to dynamically update any Microsoft group type from Active Directory and Exchange to Azure AD and Microsoft 365 Groups. Cayosoft provides the single tool you will need to keep all of your groups accurate and up-to-date. As your needs change from AD or Exchange on-premises to hybrid or cloud only, you can continue group management without expensive swap-outs or upgrades.

User Self-Service Group Management with Controls

Easy to use self-service group management allows distribution list, application, and data owners to manage who has access to their resources. Group Owners can also publish their groups, allowing others to request access and can require approval before users are added to groups through a request or by help desk admins. By allowing group owners to manage their own groups, expensive and time-consuming help desk requests are eliminated. Also, by allowing group owners to manage their own groups, the compliance and security burden is moved to the person who understands the business reasons as to why a member should or should not be added.

Sustained Security and Compliance Goals

Certification reviews, with “Attestation” periodically ask the group owner to verify the need and accuracy of group membership to satisfy key compliance control and audit requirements. Security and Compliance Certification Reviews with “Attestation” satisfies many legal, regulatory, compliance, and security requirements found in HIPPA, SOX, PCI, and other regulations. In addition to verifying the membership, these controls will identify and optionally suspend/disable un-used or unwanted groups, reducing overall management burden.

Supports segregation of duty enforcement

For security and compliance reasons, an “Auditors Only Group” that may allow the clearing of security logs, should not contain members that are actually being audited. If a user that is being audited is accidentally added to the “Auditors Only Group”, Cayosoft Dynamic Group Rules will automatically remove the user from the group, sustaining the security or compliance requirement.

Improves Identity and Access Management

As users are hired, change roles, change locations, leave the organization, start or stop projects, provisioning of access is required, meaning that groups need to be updated. Unfortunately, groups are no longer in one place. In the modern Microsoft Enterprise, groups may be on-premises or in the cloud. Groups control access to sensitive resources and data and is critical they be kept up-to-date so that security and compliance goals are not jeopardized.

Case Study

Manhattan Ogden School District Automates for Efficiency

“When we started running Cayosoft, I was surprised to see a number of users who were in the wrong groups and Organization Units. We used Cayosoft to move users into the correct OU and groups. This has fixed the issue of student and staff not receiving communication because they were not in the correct distribution group. This has also eliminated potential security concerns.”
