Microsoft Sees 775% Spike in Some Areas

Microsoft is experiencing a large increase in Microsoft Teams, Windows Virtual Desktop, and Power BI, which are powered by Microsoft Azure — the second largest cloud services provider behind Amazon Web Services (AWS).

“We have seen a 775 percent increase of our cloud services in regions that have enforced social distancing or shelter in place orders,” as Microsoft reported in a blog update on March 28. Most of those areas are in larger cities and states that also happen to be larger business centers.

Any customers or partners impacted by service incidents will be notified through the Service Health experience in the Azure portal and/or in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

Microsoft stated in a recent blog, “Top priority will be going to first responders, health and emergency management services, critical government infrastructure organizational use, and ensuring remote workers stay up and running with the core functionality of Teams.”
