Microsoft Expands Azure Hybrid Enterprise Capability

Not even a year after Google invested millions in hybrid storage vendor Avere Systems, Microsoft swooped in last week to snatch the company for itself.   Avere specializes in high-performance computing and storage, often a priority for large enterprises in a hybrid environment. With this purchase, Microsoft will integrate Avere more tightly with Azure, enhancing its ability to support the computationally heavy workloads often required by larger clients.

That’s all well and good, but what’s our perspective?

We’re heartened to get further confirmation of Cayosoft’s market-forward position. Full migration to the cloud is simply infeasible for most enterprises, and Microsoft investing further in hybrid options demonstrates the growing dominance of the strategy.
